A 22-year-old homeless man is facing charges after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Nashville. Tyler Kidder, who had an unrelated outstanding vandalism warrant from Goodlettsville, was identified as the individual seen in the company of the teenager on Church Street, according to a report from the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The victim, identified only as a runaway with a history to show for it, approached bystanders on Sunday claiming she had been raped earlier that day in a parking garage. As concerned citizens moved to quickly alert the police, Kidder then proceeded to casually walk away from the scene. He was later discovered in a downtown alley by law enforcement, where he was arrested.
Following the accusations, a medical examination was performed on the teenage girl, which indicated signs consistent with recent intercourse. Kidder has remained in custody since his arrest for the outstanding vandalism warrant and now faces additional legal scrutiny upon the filing of a rape warrant after a Youth Services investigation.
The Metro Nashville Police Department issued a brief statement regarding the case, noting "A rape warrant was filed today following a Youth Services investigation." Kidder, having been booked on the prior warrant, is now being held on these new charges as the authorities continue to dig deeper into unraveling both the events and circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
