The Metro Nashville Police Department has officially padlocked the 404 Bar & Grill, located on Elysian Fields Road in South Nashville, following a series of incidents described as draining local law enforcement resources. According to WSMV, the establishment was shut down this morning after a five-year period in which police were called to the location over 120 times for various disturbances, including assaults, shootings, and excessive noise complaints.
The shutdown, which will tentatively extend into the following week pending a court hearing, was a significant move by the MNPD. They claim the issues associated with the bar and grill have consistently diverted their attention and resources away from more deserving areas in the Midtown precinct. Investigations during the padlock operation uncovered at least 15 gambling machines and body armor on the premises. As reported by FOX 17 News, the officers who secured the scene are part of the MNPD's Specialized Investigations Division.
As per WKRN, Midtown Hills Precinct Commander Sean Richmond described the establishment as a "public nuisance". Richmond detailed the scope of law enforcement's involvement at the bar, citing approximately 123 calls for service and 314 extra patrols completed over five years, with incidents ranging from loud music to more serious offences such as fights, stabbings, and drug activities.
