North Miami Police arrested Matthew Duchatelier, age 30, amid allegations of an attempted kidnapping of a girl under 13, an incident that has stirred concern throughout the Miami-Dade area. The arrest, confirmed yesterday, comes on the heels of Duchatelier's previous accusations of molesting a teenage girl, reported Local 10 News.
According to the same source, the latest incident unfolded near Northeast 135th Street and 10th Avenue in North Miami when Duchatelier allegedly chased the girl, who then fought back and managed to escape. "She grabbed a gate to open it, and he ran towards her and grabbed her," said a teen witness in an exclusive interview with Local 10’s Rosh Lowe. The same witness recounted that, after her escape, the girl was left sitting on the ground, crying.
Duchatelier's troubled history is further highlighted by an October 2024 event where he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old within the confines of a T.J. Maxx store, with the entire episode purportedly caught on the store's surveillance footage. The signs were distressingly clear: this was not a man suddenly veered off path but, perhaps, a predator moving in his regular haunt.
Jail records indicate Duchatelier faces one count of attempted kidnapping of a child under the age of 13. He was ordered by the court to have no contact with the latest victim, an imperative provided in the wake of his yesterday bond denial, informed Instagram coverage of the court proceedings by wilsonews2025. Detectives assigned to this case have widened their net, now in search of surveillance that may further implicate Duchatelier, or, reveal more victims. This sting to the community's sense of security has law enforcement urging any individuals with potential insights to report to Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
