An off-duty police officer sustained a serious head injury following a scuffle with security personnel outside Loser's Bar on Division Street. The altercation, which occurred last Saturday night around 9:10 p.m., involved four off-duty officers who had attempted to enter the bar after leaving a nearby establishment and were denied entry.
According to the official report from the Nashville Government, tensions escalated when the officers crossed the street and exchanged heated words with a security guard, who then crossed the street themselves, leading the verbal spat to devolve into a physical confrontation in front of Velvet Taco, and during the ensuing fight, one of the officers was struck in the head and knocked unconscious on the concrete.
The injured officer was quickly treated and transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was discharged the following afternoon. Detectives continue to piece together the sequence of events, and no charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
