An intense blaze at an Ogden apartment complex late Monday night has left 13 residents without a home and inflicted injuries upon a firefighter. The fire, which broke out in the 300th block of 32nd Street, reportedly led to a massive response from local fire departments. According to KUTV, the Ogden and Riverdale fire departments were dispatched at around 11 p.m. and found themselves battling not only the inferno but also the aftermath of displacement for over a dozen individuals.
Witnesses described the scene as one where smoke and flames were fiercely emanating from both windows and the roof of the multi-level structure. The fire "consumed a large portion of the attic space," which forced firefighters to work vigorously to extinguish the flames, as per KSLTV. Their efforts were complicated by the fire's reach, which required a substantial and coordinated response to contain.
The toll taken by the fire was significant. Damage estimates exceed $1 million, and the impacted residents are now grappling with the sudden loss of their homes. A collective squad of 32 firefighters from the Ogden City Fire Department and the Riverdale Fire Department came together to tackle the emergency. The American Red Cross was quick to respond to assist the displaced residents, offering relief where it could. This information came to light in coverage by FOX13, which also noted that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
