Early Tuesday morning, a shooting in Englewood left one dead and two wounded while they were traveling in a vehicle. The Chicago police reported to the scene around 2 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Green Street, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The driver, a woman whose age has not been disclosed, suffered a gunshot wound in the back. She was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The incident not only claimed one life but also left two young men with injuries. A 20-year-old passenger was shot in the shoulder, and he was quickly taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was described as serious. Additionally, a 17-year-old boy was hit in the elbow. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and was reported to be in good condition. Currently, there seems to be no one taken into custody regarding the shooting, and detectives from Area 1 are actively investigating to possibly identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s).
Details about the shooting were also shared by WGN-TV, pointing out that the three individuals were shot while inside a vehicle during what was likely a solitary stretch of the early morning. The 20-year-old man and the 17-year-old boy have been accounted for in hospitals, with their conditions ranging from good to serious.
At present, Chicago police have not released additional information about potential suspects or motives behind the tragic event.
