A residential burglary case in Palm Desert has culminated in the arrest of Alex Lopez, 30, on August 29, 2025. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies reviewing a social media application stumbled upon evidence of a theft that happened on December 18, 2024, leading them to the victim's home on Krug Avenue, where an electric bike had been stolen.
Authorities were summoned to the residence after a suspicious male was caught on surveillance footage entering the house and making off with the electric bicycle at around 8:00 a.m., while the occupants were present. The Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team (R.B.S.T.) took over the investigation promptly and identified the Indio resident, Lopez, as the suspect.
The arrest was executed near Jackson Street and Highway 111 through a collaborative effort between the R.B.S.T. and the Special Enforcement Team of Palm Desert. Once apprehended, Lopez faced charges of first-degree residential burglary and was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center situated in Indio.
