
A collision in the Mid-Way District yesterday left a pedestrian with serious injuries. Around 12:20 PM, the incident involved a 34-year-old male driver and a 69-year-old male pedestrian at the 3700 block of Camino Del Rio West. The older man was reportedly crossing the street midblock, amid heavy traffic, when the Jeep Wrangler struck him, according to a press release from the San Diego Police Department.
The victim sustained an open fracture to his right leg and a fractured pelvis, injuries for which he was swiftly transported to a local hospital, Traffic units from the SDPD responded to the scene to manage and investigate the situation the department has not released any additional details regarding the condition of the pedestrian or the circumstances leading up to the accident. Officer S. Foster, the watch commander overseeing the case, noted in the press release that the the Jeep driver was traveling southbound in the number four lane when the accident occurred. The the Traffic Division's investigation is ongoing as they work to piece together the events that led up to the traumatic collision on what appears to be a typically busy thoroughfare.
