A 23-year-old Kody Richard Jensen of the Portland area has been sentenced to a combined total of 21 years and 3 months in prison after being convicted in multiple cases involving assault and sexual abuse against two separate women. An August 22 sentencing at Multnomah County Circuit Court saw Jensen receive 130 months for acts committed against the first victim, including rape, sex abuse, assault, harassment, and coercion, constituting domestic violence. In a prior case on August 7, he was sentenced to 125 months for violence against another woman, with charges including coercion, kidnapping, assault, attempted assault, and tampering with a witness, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
The sentences, ordered by Judge Kelly Skye to be served consecutively, illuminate a pattern of abusive behavior by Jensen, who physically and emotionally tormented his victims. In the latter case, details emerged of Jensen's violent tendencies, where he was reported to have gone as far as physically preventing one of the victims from leaving and disfiguring her by striking her with a phone.
While Jensen was tried and acquitted on some charges in a third case, his convictions stand as testaments to his repeated violent offenses. Deputy District Attorney Mihnea Moga, who prosecuted the cases, lauded the courage of the women to confront their abuser in court. "I commend the victims for their bravery to come to Court and face their abuser throughout these trials," Moga stated via the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office. "I am very pleased with the result and hope that this sentence provides them with some consolation that the defendant was held accountable for his horrific actions." This sentiment acknowledges the immense challenges victims face in seeking justice and the importance of accountability.
Moreover, commendations were extended to Detective Jordan Smith of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office for his diligent work on the cases and to Victim Advocate Allison Miller for delivering care and empathy to the survivors who endured Jensen’s abuse. In one case, the sentencing memo reveals the chilling details of Jensen's cruelty, as he continued to attack the victim even after she managed to break free from an initial assault.
