The incident follows the earlier discovery of a noose at the same location, with Metro Nashville Police Department's investigation into the latter concluding without charges due to insufficient evidence, as reported by NewsChannel 9.
In a statement obtained by WKRN, the construction company condemned the act, emphasizing its violation of their upheld values and the inclusive, respectful work environment they strive for. Meanwhile, officials have narrowed down the timeframe of the graffiti incident and are working to identify any persons of interest. Last week, a construction worker was identified in relation to the noose incident but was not charged for an unrelated issue.
Details concerning the nature of the graffiti were not publicly disclosed, but the Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) underscored the unacceptability of such acts at their project sites. "This incident is a painful reminder of why vigilance matters—and why we remain unwavering in our efforts to build a culture of respect, dignity, and safety for everyone on site," TBA stated, as per information from NewsChannel 9.
The Tennesseean reported further details, revealing that the graffiti was located on a wooden board inside a temporary bathroom. Turner Construction Company's spokesperson, Tony Williams, told The Tennessean, "We condemn this act unequivocally," and "It is a direct violation of the values we uphold and the inclusion, respectful work environment we are committed to maintaining." In response to the incidents, the Council on American-Islamic Relations has called for a thorough investigation and the implementation of anti-bias training at the site.
Despite efforts to create a fair workplace, these repeated incidents show that racism at work is still a problem. About 1,400 workers are on the Nissan Stadium construction site each day. The company is offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those behind the earlier noose incident. Turner Construction has made it clear that hate has no place on the job and remains committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
