San José Police Department made a significant breakthrough in its investigation into the city's 15th homicide this year with the arrest of two suspects linked to the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Raymond Orozco. According to the SJPD's official statement, 20-year-old Mercedes Rosales and 18-year-old Micaela Van from San José have been apprehended and charged in connection to the crime that took place on July 20.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:51 AM on the 90 Block of South 2nd Street, San José, where Orozco was found suffering from a stab wound. Despite efforts to quickly administer life-saving measures and transport the victim to a local hospital, he was later pronounced dead. The suspects managed to initially evade the police presence, leaving the scene before authorities arrived.
It took detectives weeks to puzzle together the case details, eventually obtaining warrants to arrest Rosales and Van. As reported by the San José Police Department, the two suspects were located and apprehended yesterday. Rosales has been booked for murder, while Van faces charges as an accessory to murder. Both are currently detained at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Hoodline reported that the police believe witnesses could have captured the incident on cellphone video. This potential evidence has yet to come to light, but individuals with any relevant footage or information are strongly encouraged to provide it to the authorities.
