
The Gaslamp Quarter, known for its bustling nightlife, became the scene of a tragic shooting last weekend. A man, now identified as Antwan Bluthenthal, was shot and killed inside a local bar. The suspect, Bryan Tyner, was quickly subdued and detained by patrons until police arrived, as reported by the San Diego Police Department.
Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 5:18 PM on Sunday, after receiving multiple calls about a shooting at a bar located at 701 Sixth Avenue. Bluthenthal, known as Antwan Blu, was found by officers on the ground outside, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, Bluthenthal's life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The swift action of those present in the establishment led to the arrest of 37-year-old Tyner, who is now facing a murder charge. Investigators believe that both Bluthenthal and Tyner had been to the Cielo Rooftop Lounge on the fifth floor, accessed via an elevator on the third floor, where the comedy club, currently closed, resides.
