A man accused of robbery at an Imperial Beach Chase Bank is now in custody, following a tense incident that left one customer with minor injuries. According to a San Diego Sheriff’s Department report, the ordeal unfolded yesterday, just before 2 PM, when Roberto Galvan entered the bank on Palm Avenue and forcibly took money from a customer during her transaction with a teller.

Galvan allegedly snatched the money from the victim as she was depositing cash and proceeded to flee the scene. In his escape, he jumped into a vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries in an attempt to halt his departure. The report indicates that the incident quickly escalated, with the victim holding onto the car as Galvan drove away from the bank, eventually leaving the area.

Local authorities at the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation immediately searched for the suspect, leading them to El Cajon, where Galvan was allegedly spotted. El Cajon Police Department officers were able to locate and take the suspect into custody without any further incident.

Upon capture, the victim was able to positively identify Galvan, resulting in his arrest by the Sheriff’s Deputies on robbery charges.
