An undocumented man from Mexico has been detained in Florida on multiple charges concerning child exploitation. Oscar Daniel Rojas Garcia, 39, was taken into custody with accusations of owning, transmitting, and peddling child sexual abuse material, as communicated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), reports NBC Miami.
The case against Rojas Garcia developed after the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was alerted to the suspect's activities through nine cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. FDLE officials stated that the accused was found downloading and sharing disturbing content that included not only the abuse of human minors, but also the sexual abuse of animals. Further investigations uncovered that Rojas Garcia had also been uploading self-produced images, some of which displayed him in female children's underwear, according to statements obtained by NBC Miami.
Initially pinpointed in Coconut Creek, Rojas Garcia later relocated to Palm Beach County, prompting the FDLE to intervene for his capture last Friday. Upon arrest, law enforcement officials seized two electronic devices linked to the alleged crimes. WPBF reports that the accused is currently facing a judicial process while under removal proceedings, with his prosecution set to take place in Broward County. Garcia is currently awaiting trial after a joint effort between local police and federal agencies led to his arrest.
