Union Square will soon see the addition of new culinary options with the upcoming opening of Time Out Market New York in Manhattan. The market has announced a lineup of vendors set to open at its Union Square location, expanding the area's existing food landscape. Among the featured offerings are Patty Palace by Chef Kwame Onwuachi, specializing in Jamaican cuisine, and Kebabwala from Unapologetic Foods, serving Indian-inspired dishes. Taqueria El Chato, recognized by the Michelin Guide, will offer its taco selections, while Lori Jayne Burger will expand its presence from Brooklyn to Manhattan, as detailed in a report from Eater.
Fornino joins the market with its artisanal pizzas, known for their role in New York's pizza scene. Kam Rai Thai will offer authentic Thai dishes, including grilled pork buns and wok-charred pad see ew. Anthony’s Paninoteca by Anthony Valois will open its second location, its first in Manhattan, focusing on Italian American sandwiches. As per Time Out, "Time Out Market New York, Union Square will be a celebration of outstanding local culinary talents spanning diverse influences and flavors."
The new food hall functions as a cultural space. The 10,000-square-foot venue, which includes an outdoor terrace, will host events featuring local artists such as live bands and dancers. Time Out Market New York, Union Square is intended to provide a setting where people can experience food and cultural activities, according to Time Out’s Virginia Rector-Birbal.
The market’s bar will offer signature cocktails, a curated wine list, and locally sourced beers, along with coffee and pastries available earlier in the day. Artisanal options include selections from Epicerie Boulud and banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery. Time Out Market New York, Union Square is scheduled to open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting in September, providing visitors and residents with a variety of culinary options in one location. The exact opening date has yet to be announced. Since the first Time Out Market launched in Lisbon in 2014 and the concept has expanded to cities such as Boston, Chicago, and Barcelona.
