The University of Utah's cross country team is setting paces and marking calendars with the recent unveiling of their 2025 lineup. In a news release early Monday, the Utah Utes outlined a schedule that puts their endurance on display beginning August 29 with the UVU Invitational at Scera Park. The schedule points to a strategic mix of familiar terrain and fresh challenges as the Utes prepare to face off with collegiate competitors across the country. The home crowd will get to cheer on their runners early this season, with the Beehive Invitational, Utah's only home meet, now set for September 12 at Sugar House Park, a move that will likely cause a stir amongst local fans eager to root for their team on familiar grounds, according to UtahUtes.com.

The Utes' journey through the season will also offer them a chance to thoroughly preview what's to come. On September 26, the team will take its strides to Missouri's Gans Creek Classic, the site of this year's NCAA Championships. This early look allows the team to familiarize themselves with the course, potentially giving them a leg up when titles are on the line. Following this, a select group is slated to head up to Logan for the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational on October 10. With strategic race selections and careful planning, Utah's runners are bound to be well primed for the peak of the season.

Before heading into the postseason, the Utes have another date circled in their calendars, the Nuttycombe Invitational on October 17, marking their fourth consecutive year at this event. It will be the final regular-season contest for the team, whose performance at the Zimmer Championship Course will be a telling indicator of their readiness for the Big 12 Championships on Halloween. Last year, Utah garnered a third-place finish at the conference meet, a result they're certainly looking to improve upon in their second year as Big 12 members.

Utah takes pride in hosting key events, and this year is no exception, with the NCAA Mountain Regional at the Regional Athletic Complex on November 14. It's a return to hosting for Utah, last having the honor back in 2021 with the Pac-12 Championships. If the Utes manage to snag an automatic qualification or an at-large bid on Selection Saturday, they'll find themselves racing once again at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course come November 22 for the NCAA Championships. In a highly competitive field, every step counts, and Utah's runners are gearing up to make each one land with impact.
