Attention all pool aficionados and sports enthusiasts, the University of Utah's swimming and diving program has just pulled back the curtain on its 2025-26 season plan. The Utes are gearing up to host three regular-season home meets, diving into the calendar with an alumni face-off scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11. Head coach Jonas Persson is pumped about the calendar, expressing optimism not just in the team but in the strategic scheduling as well. "It's a very purposeful schedule with meets that are great for our teams, competitive and not too taxing with travel. I think the dual meets along with the invitationals set us up for great success and will prepare us for conference championships and the national championships later on this season," Persson told UtahUtes.com.
Spanning across 20 meets that equally involve both men's and women's teams, the Utes are set to start their official season with an out-of-state splash against Wyoming on Oct. 24. They'll then welcome turf, Colorado Mesa, on Halloween for the home opener. Diving head coach Richard Marschner chimed in on the schedule, saying, “We really like to challenge ourselves against some of the best in the country, as we've proven that is who we compete best against. We've got a really incredible group against some incredible competition, and we hope to prove we're the best of the best," as stated by UtahUtes.com.
The November and December slates are packed, with the swimming and diving teams splitting up to make waves at several high-profile invitationals, including the Texas Diving Invitational and the SMU Invitational. The squads will then reunite back home for the Utah Winter Classic on Dec. 15, before closing out the 2025 calendar year with a dual meet against Hawaii. The dives and strokes of January see the teams splitting once again, as the divers take on the UCLA Diving Invite and swimmers test waters in Denver and against UCLA, Iowa, and UCSB.
February promises to wrap the regular season with adrenaline, with the swim team's final meets against SMU and a local dip in Provo. The diving team will aim to make a last splash at the Last Chance Tower Meet on Valentine's Day. Eyes are already set on the postseason, with the Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships marked for Feb. 24-28. The Utes are looking to improve upon their previous results, where "the men's side finished third in the conference while the women's team finished fifth," according to UtahUtes.com.
