The incident occurred at RAADFest 2025, held July 10-13 at the Red Rock Casino Resort, where attendees paid over $400 to explore longevity science and age reversal treatments.
According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, by the time the two women reached the hospital, one was already intubated and the other had lost muscle control in her neck and couldn't open her eyes or communicate with doctors. Both women experienced severe reactions including tongue swelling, breathing difficulties, and increased heart rates after receiving peptide injections designed to boost muscle growth and aid fat loss.
Festival Promises Turn Dangerous
RAADFest, organized by the Coalition for Radical Life Extension, draws hundreds of attendees seeking access to experimental therapies alongside educational presentations. As detailed by ProPublica, the doctor administering the injections was a Los Angeles physician specializing in "age reversal" therapies who did not have permission to practice medicine or dispense prescriptions in Nevada.
The physician administered different peptide concoctions to each woman, both including at least one component described by the FDA as posing significant risks when compounded. According to Nevada Public Radio, Metro police say the number of hospitalizations following peptide injections at the Vegas wellness gathering could be as high as seven, though detectives were unable to confirm whether additional attendees got sick.
Multi-Agency Investigation Launched
Both the Southern Nevada Health District and the Nevada Board of Pharmacy have confirmed they are investigating what led to the hospitalizations. Investigators are examining whether the illnesses were caused by an infection, contamination related to the injections, or an issue with the medication itself, according to documents obtained by ProPublica.
The investigation comes as peptides grow in popularity, thanks in part to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s promotion of the amino acid chains as a way to fight aging and chronic disease.
