Today, Utah State University hosted the funeral service for Tremonton Police Sergeant Lee Sorensen, who was tragically killed in the line of duty. As reported by ABC4, the services began at 9:30 a.m. and were live-streamed for the community to join in honoring the fallen officer. Sergeant Sorensen, a beloved member of his community, was shot and killed on August 17, alongside his colleague Officer Eric Estrada, while responding to a domestic violence call.

The procession route was witness to an outpouring of respect, as hundreds of vehicles followed, to bring Sgt. Sorensen to his final resting place at East Garland Cemetery. As noted by KUTV, the procession started early morning from Utah State University and included more than 500 cars, a testament to the community's regard for the officer.

Chaplain Matthew Cluff led the service, which was also presided over by figures such as Tremonton-Garlond Police Chief Dustin Cordova and Utah Governor Spencer Cox. According to ABC4, Sgt. Sorensen was remembered as someone who deeply loved serving his hometown of Garland, having dedicated 16 years of service to the Tremonton Police Department.

"He wouldn’t do anything different. He would show up time and time again," Sgt. Sorensen's niece, Madison Peterson, told KSLTV in a tribute to her uncle's dedication. Governor Spencer Cox and other speakers delivered remarks focusing on Sgt. Sorensen's unwavering commitment to service and his impact on the local community, including his involvement in the 4-H program and the Special Olympic games.
