Tragedy struck the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side over the weekend when a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot while standing on a sidewalk. The incident occurred on the 11300 block of South Carpenter Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. Saturday, ABC 7 Chicago reports.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the teenager was standing on the sidewalk when occupants of a blue sedan fired multiple shots, one of which struck him in the chest. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the young victim as Ian Williams. Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene heading north on Carpenter Street, police said. The vehicle and its occupants remain at large at this time.
No arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting, and Area Two detectives are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. WGN-TV reported details about the vehicle, describing it as a blue sedan, but no further description of the suspects has been provided by the authorities.
