
A 21-year-old man was found shot to death late Sunday night in Chicago's West Town neighborhood. According to FOX 32 Chicago, officers discovered the victim outside with a gunshot wound to the head around 11:00 p.m. near Western Avenue and Washington Boulevard. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
As per a witness cited by police, the two individuals involved in the shooting disembarked from a black sedan, fired at the victim, and fled. FOX 32 Chicago reports they got out of the vehicle and perpetrated the act before escaping the scene in the same car. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident as Area Three detectives continue their inquiry.
The tragedy of the shooting has been mirrored in a report by the Chicago Sun-Times, which detailed how the unidentified man was also found shot in the head at approximately 11:05 p.m., barely a block away on North Western Avenue.
The witness's testimony to Chicago police, as stated by the Sun-Times, reiterated the observation of two gunmen leaving a black sedan, attacking the man with gunfire, and then returning to their vehicle to escape. As the community grapples with the violence, the same Area 3 police detectives are spearheading the ongoing investigation into the young man's death.
