Residents of Fourth Avenue in Algood experienced a jarring interruption late last night when a vehicle careened into a home, striking a gas meter and prompting a rapid response from emergency services. The Algood Fire Department took to social media, issuing a warning for locals to steer clear of the area as crews worked diligently to manage the hazardous site.
The Facebook post read: "UPDATE: all units have cleared the scene." Earlier messages indicated the extent of the emergency services' involvement - "Algood Fire, Algood PD, Putnam County EMS/Rescue, and Cookeville Gas are on scene of a vehicle into a home with a damaged gas meter." Despite the potential for a more severe outcome, given the nature of the incident, no injuries have been reported at the time of the update.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash and assess the full extent of damage to the home and surrounding infrastructure.
