Zimmermann has opened a new multi-level boutique at Plaza Del Lago, the open-air shopping destination known for its Spanish-style architecture, with the Australian fashion label debuting its Cruise 2027 collection inside a space filled with vintage and contemporary furnishings. The store sits at 1515 Sheridan Road, a location that places it squarely within the historic courtyard center that has long drawn shoppers to the area.

According to FashionNetwork, the boutique was designed in collaboration with longtime partner Studio McQualter and draws directly on Plaza Del Lago's Spanish-style architecture and natural light. Zimmermann's own boutique locator lists the address as 1515 Sheridan Road, Suite 6B, in Wilmette, part of the greater Chicago area.

Inside the New Boutique's Design

The fitting room includes a sculptural chair by Gae Aulenti, while the broader retail space features a coffee table by Peter Ghyczy and a custom rug from Halcyon Lake, per the same report. The boutique also incorporates works by other artists alongside bespoke finishes and furnishings, continuing a design approach Zimmermann has used to tie its stores to their surroundings.

Nicky Zimmermann, the brand's creative director and co-founder, said the goal was to create a space that mirrors its setting. “We wanted to design a boutique that feels just as warm, vibrant and inviting as its surroundings,” she said, according to the outlet's report. Zimmermann also pointed to the city itself as inspiration, noting Chicago's creative identity shaped by its architecture, art and design.

A Second US Debut Follows Nashville

The Chicago store follows Zimmermann's debut in Nashville two months prior, where the brand opened its first boutique in that city at Wedgewood Village with the Fall 2026 collection. Reports differ on the exact address of that location: FashionNetwork's November report lists it at 505 Houston Street, while Zimmermann's own boutique locator shows 503 Houston Street. An earlier FashionNetwork report had indicated the brand planned to open a 2,186-square-foot store at 503 Houston Street during the summer.

The Nashville boutique, also designed by Studio McQualter, incorporates warm caramel tones, burnt-red carpeting and Indonesian ikat textiles, along with custom terrazzo, stone, mirror and stainless steel finishes. Vintage furnishings, decorative lighting and a curated art collection round out the space, and a dedicated accessories room features a floor-to-ceiling green finish alongside works by Australian and international artists.

Part of a Broader US Push

The two openings reflect Zimmermann's continued investment in U.S. retail, the FashionNetwork report notes, with store concepts built to incorporate local architectural and cultural influences alongside the Australian brand's established design identity. That strategy has coincided with a period of international growth for the company.

Financial reporting on that growth offers differing figures. According to the Australian Financial Review, Zimmermann's global store rollout has grown the brand to more than 80 stores worldwide. A separate account from Modaes put the figure at more than 90 stores across markets worldwide, adding that the brand has doubled its company-owned store count globally over the preceding three years.
