As the Bay Area braces for unsettled weather, the National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued advisories concerning a mix of showers and possible thunderstorms across the region. A special update from the NWS San Francisco, quoted at their website, indicates that "Showers and thunderstorms are slowly streaming in from the southeast this morning," with higher chances of wetting rains expected along the Central Coast and a mix of potentially dry thunderstorms in the Bay Area.
Further insights provided by the NWS San Francisco elaborate on the situation, stating, "In terms of the thunderstorms, confidence remains the greatest along the Central Coast for the rest of today. Confidence decrease the more north you go, with the lowest confidence for thunderstorms being over the North Bay." While the Central Coast might get some relief with rains accompanying the thunderous perturbations, areas north face a risk of dry lightning that could heighten fire weather concerns.
The aviation sector isn't immune to these meteorological tribulations, either. According to the NWS San Francisco, scattered showers have compelled modifications in flight operations, especially as "shower activity spreads north through the day with slight chances for storms embedded in lines of showers." Airports across the Monterey Bay have already dealt with these conditions through the night and into the morning, which are expected to persist until mid-Thursday morning.
Up-to-the-minute radar updates can be grasped through social media, where the NWS Bay Area shared an early morning post showing showers and thunderstorms ascending the Central Coast, as seen on NWS Bay Area.

Looking ahead, the Bay Area is set to experience an increase in temperatures towards the end of the week, brought on by an approaching upper-level ridge. The heat will peak on Friday for most areas, but will eventually give way to cooler and more seasonal weather during the weekend. The forecast also indicates a potential for another round of rain early next week, delivered by a cold front, although the specifics remain uncertain.
