
Chicago police have apprehended 41-year-old Leonard Carson for his role in an alleged aggravated vehicular hijacking that occurred in the early hours of September 15, 2025. According to a news release from the Chicago Police Department, Carson was identified as the individual who reportedly took a vehicle at knifepoint from a 22-year-old male located in the 100 block of E. 70th St.
Carson, hailing from the 8500 block of S. Aberdeen St., was placed into custody at 1:14 a.m. on September 15. A mere half an hour after the incident, law enforcement was able to locate and secure the suspect in the 100 block of E. 70th St. He is now facing one felony count of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking - Weapon, along with misdemeanor charges for Aggravated Assault/Use Deadly Weapon and Criminal Damage to Property <$500.
The case is scheduled for a detention hearing at the criminal courthouse located at 2600 S. California on September 16, 2025. As the situation develops, details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the hijacking remain limited. Officials have not disclosed any further information related to the incident or the charges brought against Carson.
