A spate of vehicle break-ins has struck the O'Hare and Norwood Park neighborhoods, with thieves targeting pickup trucks and leaving a trail of shattered glass and anxiety among residents. The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert regarding these burglaries, which occurred in the early morning hours of September 9, 2025. At least one firearm was reported stolen, elevating concerns for public safety.
The burglaries, all taking place between 3-5 a.m., involved offenders arriving in stolen vehicles, quickly smashing rear passenger windows to access the trucks parked on streets or hotel lots. An instance of firearm discharge in a related Norridge incident intensifies the urgency of the situation. The police notice, available online, provides a rundown of the affected areas, including the 5600 block of N. Cumberland and multiple sites on the 7600 block of W. Victoria.
Details about the suspects remain vague; the lookout crew consists of at least four individuals clad in hooded sweatshirts and dark attire, thus making identification challenging. The Chicago Police urge locals to be vigilant and report any suspicious loitering, with a particular emphasis on the pertinent time frame of the recent crimes.
