Chicago has witnessed yet another episode of gun violence, with a woman now facing serious charges in connection with a recent shooting. The Chicago Police Department has announced the arrest of an individual involved in an aggravated battery discharge of a firearm. According to a statement obtained by the Chicago Police Department, Selena Vargas, 29, from the 5100 block of S. Campbell Ave., has been charged with one felony count of Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm.
Vargas's arrest took place on the night of September 11, 2025, at approximately 11:19 p.m., located in the 2400 block of W. 52nd St. Positioned as an offender in the incident, she was identified as having engaged in a shooting an hour earlier that resulted in injuries to a 34-year-old male on her home block. She is scheduled to have a detention hearing at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California on today's date, as reported by the authorities.
The authorities have not provided much detail about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or the condition of the victim involved in the incident.
