Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has proclaimed September 27 to October 5, as "Blue Star Welcome Week," a city initiative to support active-duty and transitioning military families. The proclamation comes in response to the 2024 Military Family Lifestyle Survey, which reported that only 39% of military families felt a sense of belonging in civilian communities, according to the City of Clarksville.
"Family Fun Day" will open the week at Greater Missionary Baptist Church, featuring activities such as a pumpkin patch, a magic show, and a performance by the 101st Airborne Division Band, as reported by the City of Clarksville. Karissa Poe and Jessica Roseberry from the Blue Star Families Tennessee Chapter attended the proclamation presentation, along with Clarksville Military Liaison Bill Harpel.
