A tragic event unfolded late Sunday night in Gardena when a woman was struck and killed by a driver who initially fled the scene. According to ABC7, the hit-and-run occurred just before 10:30 p.m. along Western Avenue near 149th Street. The victim, whose identity is still being withheld, was crossing the street when she was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, who has not been identified, later surrendered to authorities and was subsequently arrested. Witnesses to the incident reported to FOX LA that the woman was attempting to cross the street with her son, who thankfully was not seriously injured, when the collision happened.
