A driver has been reported in critical condition following a collision with a Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office cruiser earlier today, a significant incident that occurred in west Miami-Dade and involved a marked police vehicle, according to Local 10 News.
A crash occurred just after 2:30 a.m. near Southwest 87th Avenue and 32nd Street, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said a deputy was driving along Galloway Road when his cruiser was struck by a Nissan sedan. The impact caused the Nissan’s driver to lose control and crash into a tree, where the vehicle caught fire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded, successfully extinguished the fire, and then the severely injured driver was hurried to a local hospital in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported in the crash. The Nissan was left badly damaged, its doors forced open, with a fire extinguisher on the ground showing the efforts of first responders to put out the blaze. Investigators documented the scene with photographs, shared NBC Miami.
The aftermath video caught attention, revealing the extent of the fiery crash fallout, which prompted officials to shut down Galloway Road in both directions contributing to a heavy snarl-up within the vicinity alternate routes were suggested to avoid the accident scene with Southwest 97th Avenue remains an alternative for local traffic, while the investigation into what caused the driver to lose control is still pending as of the latest information.
