Riverside High School recently took a moment to honor one of its own, Jim Vasquez, who has woven a narrative of success that begins in its very halls. A member of the Class of 1987, Vasquez embodies the term 'alumni achievement'. Now holding the position of Superintendent of Socorro ISD, Vasquez has not only climbed the ranks in the field of education but has also remained a steadfast champion of the principles of learning he was reared on in his hometown of El Paso. This dedication was publicly recognized in a tribute by his alma mater, as reported by Ysleta ISD.
According to Ysleta ISD, throughout his 29-year career, Vasquez has labored to provide students precisely the kind of learning environment that nurtures growth, both in the classroom and beyond its confines. It is a testament to his belief in the formative power of education that he has aimed to widely open every door for students to not only learn but also to involve themselves in activities and clubs that will shape their futures. His trajectory took him from teaching third-grade students to eventually stepping into the role of a curriculum coach, assistant principal, principal, and moving up to an executive level within Ysleta ISD.
Armed with degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso, an institution that undoubtedly takes pride in such alumni, Mr. Vasquez has consistently sought to weave the individual threads of his educational and professional experiences into a broader tapestry.
