Four men are recovering after an outbreak of violence in Englewood on the South Side of Chicago. The incident took place late Friday night and left the victims with varying degrees of injuries. WGN-TV reported that the shooting unfolded just after 9:30 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Halsted Street. Chicago police responding to the scene discovered a 38-year-old man with two gunshot wounds, who was rapidly transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Initial investigations indicated that there were additional victims who had sought medical attention on their owns. According to the same WGN-TV report, two of the victims, aged 36 and 35, were found in good condition at St. Bernard Hospital, both with leg injuries. Subsequently, a fourth man, aged 49, was later reported to have arrived at the University of Chicago Medical Center, suffering a gunshot wound to his left thigh and calf and was also listed in good condition.
As of the early hours of Saturday, authorities were still piecing together what transpired that night. The shooters, motives, and circumstances that led to the gunfire remained a mystery. "Currently, it is unclear what led to the gunfire and officers say no arrests have been made," WGN-TV conveyed in their reporting. An investigation into the shooting is now underway, and the Chicago Police Department is asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
