
A fatal stabbing in Fremont yesterday has led to the arrest of 29-year-old Varun Suresh, local authorities reported. According to the Fremont Police Department's social media post, officers were called to the scene on the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle at approximately 12:01 PM, following a report of an altercation in front of a residence.
Upon their arrival, police discovered one unresponsive individual on the ground with severe stab wounds. Despite immediate trauma care provided by officers, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and Suresh was detained and found in possession of a knife. According to the Fremont Police Department, the department believes this to be an isolated incident wherein the suspect targeted the victim for reasons that are under investigation.
This incident marks the fifth homicide in Fremont for the year 2025. The Crimes Against Persons Unit of the Fremont Police took over the investigation, subsequently identified Suresh as the culprit, and officially placed him under arrest for murder under Penal Code 187(a), with the case waiting to be turned over to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
