An Orange County resident finds herself confronting the long arm of the law after allegedly attempting to infiltrate a San Diego County jail, not with contraband concealed in cakes, but with narcotics cloaked in correspondence. Brittany Shahbakhti of Fullerton was snatched up by the Sheriff's DIU Detectives yesterday, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. The charge: sending a drug-laden letter through the U.S. Postal Service, a move that could lead her to trade places with its intended recipient behind bars.
Vigilant deputies picked up the drug-tinged dispatch on August 21 at the Sheriff's Mail Processing Center (MPC). It wasn't sent with love, but laced with a controlled substance, an illegal gesture intended to reach an inmate within the facility. The interception sparked a criminal investigation by the Sheriff's Detention Investigations Unit (DIU), pointing the finger squarely at Shahbakhti, born on July 15, 1991.
The following day, a search warrant led DIU detectives to Shahbakhti's home, where evidence, presumably related to the case, prompted an arrest. In a swift change of her circumstances, Shahbakhti was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
