Deputies signaled out a red Ford F350 after it ran a stop sign at the junction of Toucan Trail and Horseshoe Lane. The driver, identified as William Barnes, exhibited clear signs of impairment, showcasing slurred speech and red, glossy eyes, with an unmistakable odor of alcohol wafting from his presence, as per the details posted on the Sheriff's Office's social media account.
Further investigation into Barnes' driving records revealed a troubling pattern; not only did he refuse to provide a breath sample, thereby breaching Florida’s Implied Consent Warning, but his license has been under suspension since 2010. Barnes has been convicted for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) four times before this latest incident, and has amassed 19 convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked license, which span across Florida and Rhode Island.
