A woman has been arrested over the disappearance and murder of a Hialeah man, as local authorities continue their search for her boyfriend, who remains fugitive. Ariely Alvarez Cabrera turned herself in to authorities in Mexico, and is expected to be extradited back to Florida, following the disappearance of Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez last month, NBC Miami reported.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, shortly before being reported missing on August 7, Fleitas Gonzalez had met with Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez, Cabrera's boyfriend. Carballo Gonzalez, who is still at large and is considered "armed and dangerous" by authorities, was observed getting into Fleitas Gonzalez's truck, where an altercation is believed to have ensued. After the alleged confrontation, Carballo Gonzalez was seen driving the truck away, while placing a recycling bin in the bed, and Cabrera was following in another vehicle. This information was provided by investigators and reported by NBC Miami.
The search for the missing man ended tragically when, on August 8, detectives discovered Fleitas Gonzalez's truck abandoned, containing multiple items of evidentiary value. In the close vicinity, detectives found Fleitas' lifeless body inside the recycling bin mentioned earlier. These developments were detailed in the initial investigative reports.
The concern extended beyond the immediate crime, as a 5-month-old infant found with the couple was believed to be in danger. Fortunately, the baby has since been returned to safety in Florida, a detail confirmed by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office on their X feed. The public has been urged to aid in locating Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the MDSO Homicide Bureau at 305-471-2400 or to Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, as seen in the latest update from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office's post.
