The City of Homestead is on the cusp of a significant sports and community development endeavor, thanks to a partnership inked with the Sports Performance Hub (SPH). On Thursday, September 18, Mayor Steve Losner, city council members, and SPH executives will convene at Homestead City Hall for a signing ceremony that signals the official launch of this ambitious project, as detailed by the city's announcement.
According to a press release posted on the City of Homestead's official website, the Sports Performance Hub is not just another building project. It's set to feature a professional training academy, youth boarding facilities, public sports amenities, a sports-themed hotel, and an impressive 10,000-seat multi-purpose stadium. Moreover, the cost of this expansive complex, which is expected to serve as a hub for professional teams and the historic Homestead Championship Rodeo, won't fall on the city's ledger.
The initiative spearheaded by a select group of athletes and entrepreneurs hopes to boost the area's economy through job creation and serve as a crucible for youth development. Officials anticipate the SPH to be a major driving force in revitalizing South Dade, particularly by providing a nexus between sports, business, education, and the larger community.
Highlight attendees at the upcoming ceremony include Mayor Steve Losner and city council members, alongside Homestead City Manager and SPH shareholders and executives such as Darío Sala, Juan Mónaco, Gastón Remy, Mariano Zabaleta, and Emiliano Fernández Balague.
