A hazardous weather outlook was issued early this morning for central Indiana, warning of scattered thunderstorms later today and tonight. The storms may produce hail, gusty winds, lightning, and sudden heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis.

Currently, Indianapolis has mild weather with partly cloudy skies, calm winds, and a temperature of 61°F. Conditions are expected to change as the day progresses, with showers and thunderstorms likely between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Temperatures will rise to around 85°F, and winds from the southwest will increase to about 6 mph by afternoon, as per the National Weather Service.

Additional thunderstorms are possible early Sunday morning before clearing to mostly sunny skies with a high near 87°F. The beginning of the workweek is forecast to be dry with sunny skies and highs reaching about 91°F by Tuesday. During this period, the National Weather Service reports an elevated fire weather threat due to dry conditions and low relative humidity between 25 and 35 percent.

The National Weather Service advises caution during dry spells, especially with outdoor activities that could cause fires. Spotter activation is not anticipated.
