Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in a canal near Miami International Airport over the weekend. According to the Local 10 News, Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a waterway running alongside the Airport Expressway, in proximity to McLaughlin Drive and North Service Road, where they found the body of a deceased white male just before 9:30 a.m. yesterday.
The identity of the man has not yet been released by authorities. Homicide detectives quickly arrived on the scene, west of the MIA Rental Car Center, assuming control of the ongoing death investigation, as reported by NBC Miami. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's Office is also involved, tasked with determining the cause of death for the unidentified man.
In a statement obtained by Local 10 News, Detective Samantha Choon, spokesperson for the M-DCSO, urged the public to come forward with any relevant information. "Deputies began canvassing and located the body of a white adult male in the canal," she noted, highlighting the need for community assistance in untangling the circumstances of this sudden death.
