Las Cruces parents scrambling to find engaging activities for their kids during the fall intersession may breathe a sigh of relief. The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department has announced a Fall Break Camp that runs from Oct. 6-10, packed with a variety of hands-on activities, crafts, and active games suited for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. This five-day camp aims to provide both indoor and outdoor entertainment, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
For a not-so-whopping $20 per child, plus any additional field trip fees that are yet to be determined, parents can rest assured that their youngsters will not only be entertained but also fed, with both breakfast and lunch provided. The camp will kick off each day bright and early at 7:30 a.m. and wrap up at 5:30 p.m., allowing for a full day of supervised fun. According to the City of Las Cruces, registration is now open and spaces are going on a first-come, first-served basis until Wednesday, Sept. 17.
There's a choice of locations for the camp, with activities taking place at the East Mesa Recreation Center, the Jornada Elementary School, and potentially more locations. This gives parents flexibility based on their location and preferences. It's worth mentioning that the ease of the registration process is a likely relief for parents. They can enroll their children online or in person at select registration sites that include the Parks & Recreation Administration office, Meerscheidt Recreation Center, the Regional Aquatic Center, and Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center.
