
A high-speed chase that initiated with a traffic violation spiraled into a joint police operation, leading to the arrest of an individual on multiple charges. As reported by the Lehi City Police Department, an attempt to conduct a normal traffic stop escalated when the driver blatantly ran a red light and subsequently evaded police, prompting a pursuit onto I-15. Citing safety concerns for the public, officers made the call to terminate the pursuit.
Utilizing License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology, authorities tracked down the vehicle later on in Millcreek. In a post shared by the Lehi City Police Department, it was confirmed that detectives from both the Lehi City PD and the Murray Police Department collaborated on a July 1 operation to apprehend the suspect.
The driver was arrested without incident and found in possession of drug paraphernalia and Methamphetamine. Following an interview with the suspect, authorities were able to verify that this suspect was indeed the individual who had previously fled from officers in Lehi City.
The suspect now faces a string of charges: "Failure to Stop at the Command of Police (Felony Evading)", "Traffic Control Signal Violation", "Possession of Methamphetamine", and "Possession of Drug Paraphernalia", and was booked into the Utah County Jail, as stated by the Lehi City Police Department, expressing gratitude towards the involved detectives for their successful collaboration in the resolution of this case.
