The Lemon Grove community is on alert following a report of a suspicious person tailing a local middle school student. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, at roughly 7:30 AM yesterday, a 13-year-old was walking to school when they perceived an older man in a gray Chevrolet Silverado at a stop sign near Cypress and Lemon Grove Avenues.

The situation escalated when the driver, believed to have been watching the student, waved at them as they crossed the street. After the wave, the man executed a U-turn, which appeared to the student as an intended pursuit. A state of fear gripping their senses, the child fled, only to be approached by a benevolent stranger. As per the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation, the student recounted how the woman offered to give them a lift to safety, a ride to Lemon Grove Middle School, which occurred without further incident.

Upon arrival, the school's administration and law enforcement were informed of the morning's harrowing events. The Sheriff's office has intimated that while there may not be enough tangible evidence to prosecute a crime, the sheriff's detective assigned to unravel the incident remains diligent in their pursuit of the truth. As investigations continue, the Sheriff's office calls on anyone with relevant information to come forward.
