The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has transferred its bridge bundling program to the newly established Office of Louisiana Highway Construction. The initiative groups 62 bridges into construction packages to reduce costs and speed up work on aging infrastructure.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has issued a Notice of Intent for three bridge bundles. In a statement, DOTD Secretary Glenn Ledet said that cooperation with the new office will help projects begin sooner. The program follows federal guidelines to ensure compliance.

The Office of Louisiana Highway Construction was created by Act No. 389 earlier this year. Executive Director Archie Chaisson III said the office will work with the department to move projects forward faster, address infrastructure needs, and deliver improvements across the state.

The bridge bundling effort is part of DOTD’s broader Transforming Transportation initiative, which focuses on modernizing the state’s transportation system.
