A 42-year-old man, David Norris, faces serious charges following an incident on a CTA platform in Chicago, where he allegedly pushed a 51-year-old male onto the train tracks. According to a news release from the Chicago Police Department, Norris was arrested on September 16, at approximately 4:50 p.m., near the 0-100 block of N. State St.
The charges leveled against Norris include one felony count of Attempt - Murder - First Degree, and two counts of Aggravated Battery, one of which occurred in a public place and the other involving a transit employee. A detention hearing is set for September 18 in the county courthouse.
Falling onto the train tracks, the victim, whose identity has yet to be publicly disclosed, narrowly escaped what could have ended as a grave tragedy. The circumstances leading to the push and any potential motives are still under investigation. Norris was swiftly placed into custody, and the charges were subsequently filed.
