A fatal shooting in the Miramar neighborhood of San Diego has left a 57-year-old Hispanic male dead, as confirmed by the San Diego Police Department. The man was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle yesterday.
According to the police report, the incident happened at precisely 4:01 p.m. on the 8600 block of Production Avenue. Following the shooting, the suspect was seen running northbound from the scene. Descriptions from witnesses portray the suspect as a white male adult believed to be in his 40s, wearing a black shirt and dark-colored shorts. Despite an immediate search operation, including an inspection of a nearby RV possibly linked to the assailant, the man has yet to be found and apprehended.
Officers who arrived at the scene attempted life-saving procedures until paramedics took over, but the victim's injuries proved too severe. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending the notification of his family.
San Diego Police's Homicide unit is now actively investigating to try to piece together the events that led to this tragic death.
