The pursuit of clarity in the chilling 2021 murder of Benjamin Anderson continues as friends and family remain ensnared in the throes of uncertainty. Information gleaned from FOX 10 Phoenix reveals the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office's charges submission against two men: Jaden and Richard Kaufman, in connection to the case.
Found in a Maricopa County desert with his car previously discovered charred near Interstate 17, Anderson's death, veiled in ominous mystery, has his community seeking answers. In an interview obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, Daniel Stahoviak, a close friend of Anderson, is left grappling with the connection between his lost friend and the suspects, unable to locate any nexus binding them together. "Do we know, any of his friends, or any of us know them? Do they have friends that know them? Trying to piece together the different pathways that could connect Ben to these two individuals. We have yet to find one," Stahoviak said.
According to ABC15, there's a thick fog of unanswered questions regarding the suspects, whom Anderson's friends did not recognize. His life was inexplicably truncated after canceling brunch plans, with the last touchpoint being a brief phone call with Stahoviak, mentioned in the ABC15 report: "He called me, or I called him, but we were on the phone for maybe less than a minute."
Anderson's community is united, not only in mourning but in their pursuit of justice. Stahoviak expressed, in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, his belief that Anderson would appreciate their determination: "I can see Ben, as much as it's such an awful, sad situation, him wanting us to continue doing what we're doing and finding the facts and getting answers, because he would've done the same thing." In step with their tenacity, a GoFundMe has been established, pledging that unused reward funds would be donated to the PetFinder Foundation, an Arizona-based animal charity.
Neither the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office nor the County Attorney's Office has released the specific charges against the Kaufmans at this point, as reported by both FOX 10 Phoenix and ABC15. The charges are currently under review, while Anderson's loved ones remain on the edge of closure, advocating for others to come forward with any slither of information. "Whether the charges are filed or they have enough evidence, there's always something more that someone may know, even if it's a potential rumor, or they have something that they are connected to the suspects, I just always encourage people to reach out," Stahoviak told FOX 10 Phoenix.
As new information surfaces, we'll continue to monitor the developments in the Benjamin Anderson case. Both FOX 10 Phoenix and ABC15 are committed to updating their coverage as more insights become available.
