Travelers flying out of Miami International Airport can now cross one more thing off their pre-trip to-do list: securing airport parking. In a move that's sure to be welcomed by the holiday-bound, MIA has introduced a prepayment option for parking, allowing travelers to book their spots in either the Dolphin or Flamingo garages up to a full year before their planned departure, as per the county's announcement.

The new system aims to streamline the parking process, as once payment is made, customers receive an email confirmation containing a QR code. This code is what they'll use to effortlessly enter and exit the parking garage—accidentally pulling a parking ticket at the gate will result in an extra fee. After parking, luggage can be collected and the terminal reached directly.

Reservations can be conveniently modified or canceled up to 24 hours before the reserved time. However, it’s important to note, as published on Miami-Dade's official website, that the $2.99 booking fee is non-refundable. And if the parking reservation is exceeded, any additional parking fees must be settled to avoid delays when exiting.

In this day and age of cashless transactions, MIA's parking service does not lag behind. They accept a variety of payment methods, including cash, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover), Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. And for those who need to keep a record of their expenses, there's a simple process to email [email protected] to request a parking receipt.
