The City of Miramar has made a visible statement of appreciation by renaming its Multi-Service Complex after Broward County Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis. The acclaimed 38,000-square-foot facility, situated at 6700 Miramar Parkway, which provides local residents with various community programs, meeting spaces, and a banquet hall, now bears the name Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex in a nod to Davis's extensive public service and leadership.
Commissioner Davis, who previously served as a Miramar Vice Mayor and City Commissioner, has been an integral figure in championing initiatives designed to enrich community life. According to the official announcement, her contributions include the Youth Apprenticeship Program and installing school resource officers, among numerous projects. While the center opened its doors back in 2009, the dedication ceremony took place last Thursday—celebrating Davis's role in fostering the growth of historic Miramar.
Today, Davis's role has expanded beyond the city to encompass Broward County at large, where she focuses on critical issues like transportation, affordable housing, and economic development. "A building is more than just walls and a roof-it's a place where lives are shaped, where ideas are born, where communities come together and dreams are realized. My hope is that this space will continue to inspire, to serve, and to uplift every person who enters it," once shared Commissioner Davis, as recounted by the news release from Broward County.
Her stewardship and community-centric initiatives have not gone unnoticed, garnering accolades such as the ICABA's 100 Most Accomplished Caribbean Americans, Legacy Magazine's 50 Most Powerful and Influential Business Leaders in South Florida, and the Jamaica Consul General's Jamaica 50 Luminous Award.
