The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has canceled the Silver Alert for a missing Rutherford County man after confirming he was found safe. Russell Childs, 55, had been missing from the Murfreesboro area since last Saturday night. He is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, about 130 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, and usually uses a cane, as reported by WKRN.
Childs was last seen at his home in Murfreesboro around 6 p.m. last Saturday. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt, and carrying a drawstring backpack, as mentioned by WSMV. Authorities said he has a medical condition that could affect his ability to return safely. After the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help in locating him and provided contact information.
About 30 minutes after a Silver Alert was issued on Sunday, Russell Childs was reported safe. The agency stated, "Russell Childs has been located and is safe. Thanks for helping us get the word out! #TNSilverAlert," according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on their X account. Authorities have not released details about his disappearance or how he was found.
