A family dispute tragically escalated into violence at Hamilton Creek Marina last Thursday, resulting in one man critically wounded and another facing attempted murder charges. The Metro Nashville Police Department reports that Jorge Sanchez-Lopez, 35, is accused of stabbing his cousin, Eduardo Vasquez, 31, following a heated argument over money.
According to the official Nashville government website, the two men went to the marina to simply drink and hang out before the altercation broke out. The situation took a dangerous turn when Vasquez allegedly threatened Sanchez-Lopez with a rock, which led Sanchez-Lopez to apparently react by stabbing Vasquez multiple times. In a bid to flee, Vasquez ran out of the woods covered in blood, attracting the attention of witnesses who quickly stepped in to detain Sanchez-Lopez until the authorities arrived.
Emergency services swiftly responded, providing critical care to Vasquez before transporting him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, Sanchez-Lopez was arrested and subsequently jailed on a $100,000 bond. The Domestic Violence Division is currently heading the investigation into the incident due to the familial connection between the suspect and the victim.
